Re: What would you change?
Well Elec, I actually think your suggestion has merit now, although I don't agree with the reasoning. If you want an example of a running battle in the books, where a small force performs a fighting retreat against a stronger force, with a fair degree of success although ultimately ending in a loss,...

Re: What would you change?
I think the word 'flee' might be confusing you. Just because someone won't 'stand and fight' does not mean they are afraid to engage.

Re: Areas of Future Expansion
They all bring their own advantages I think. My own preference is northwards, but I see strong points for the others. Southeast adds elements of the world that people are familiar with. That's the primary strength it has. I'm pretty sure there's grounds to make Mordor something other than a total wa...

Re: Movies to watch
I think 'I Am Legend' and 'Cloverfield' are two good action movies I Am Legend has sucky CGI zombies, Cloverfield has some goofy acting, but both are some awesome movies I would like to see 'I am Legend' for what it is, but I can't bring myself to watch it. I enjoyed the book too much. The movie sh...

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.
Agree with all except I would extend the per range to 16-18 for scouts. That might be a horrible idea, but 1 extra point in per doesn't net you much, particularly not if you are of a dextrous race. Oh, and some consideration has to be given to wil for orcs, being that applying a typical puke amount ...

Re: [Project] Supermobs
One thing to keep in mind is that increasing the effort it takes to obtain an item decreases the players inclination to take a risk with that item in a pk situation.

Re: What would you protect?
I agree that the last thing the game needs is more powerful equipment. It was just the first example that occured to me to demonstrate a way to adjust risk/reward without reducing the risk. As things stand, when 2 decent level players fight, the net result of one dying is less xp in the game. They r...

Re: What would you protect?
You don't have to decrease risk to change the risk/reward ratio btw. You can encourage braver play by increasing the potential reward for it, without reducing that adrenaline. What if you could upgrade equipment at certain outfitters in the game based on how many warpoints you currently have? Kormoc...

Re: [Project] Supermobs
I still think that making old mobs harder isn't the answer. Encouraging old players to kill difficult new mobs would be better. But PMed you anyway.
The current flurry of activity is making me think about creating an immo for the first time in 6 years.

Re: [Project] Supermobs
I have a suggestion Start with the mobs that die most frequently. Those are the ones who provide too much reward for too little risk. I have a few actual ideas for a couple of the mobs too, but I'll post them later after I get them clearer.

Re: [HowTo] Advanced Character Statistics
I would guess that it's an unwanted side effect. It was probably too difficult to code in changes to your skill %s as your abilities decayed/improved. Personally I think it's cool, I like the fact that this game provides so much scope to customize and tweak a character.

Re: Issues with management
If you look at the bottom of your post it tells you why someone edits your message. Jahara appears to be editing for consistency mostly, i.e, moving posts to the correct thread, moving offtopic posts to their own threads. The only other edit I have seen him make was on one of your posts, and the rea...

Re: What would you change?
I don't know how reasonable that justification for changing the reroll system really is. How long is a RL month? 4 MUME years? 5? You could learn a lot in 5 years if you were 'retired in study'.

Re: [HowTo] Advanced Character Statistics
Jahara, is your first example actually possible? What are the limitations on training attributes? The stat changes in that example are well beyond what a partial reroll can give you.
