News 2494: Recent minor changes (promotions, philtres, ...)

1. The Valar welcome me and my enthusiastic mudlling among their ranks! 2. We congratulate Jab on his promotion to Maia (Builder). 3. Following a recent shortage in high-quality ingredients around Rivendell, Elrond's herbal philtres do not last for as long as they used to. Philtres from other source...

Re: Should I just find another MUD?

Going off what was being said about mobdeaths, I think they should at least be capped at 500k. That is pretty much what you would lose up to level 23 or so, and by that time you have learned. This way, they are still harsh, but not quite as bad. While it's good because it teaches us lessons, my frus...

Re: powwow spell timers (Jahara)

You can also create the variable in the config, and just leave it set at 0.

Re: PowTTY actions / aliases for locate, teleport, portal

I'm not sure how you would classify this, but it's basically just a variable system: key1-8 sets the keys, key1is sets where it goes too, tp1-8 ports you there and all that. Same as wr1 watchkey, watchlabel etc. portkeys should show them in a nice little format. #("teleport/watchroom/scry/portal stu...

PowTTY logging.

I've noticed, and I'm sure everyone else who uses powtty, that when you log in powtty it seems to hold commands you haven't hit enter (just typed at the prompt) in the log. Example: !f CRW Mana:Hot>sa You hear the deep sound of a horn reverberating throughout the land. !f CRW Mana:Hot>sa T You hear ...

Re: Movies to watch

I wanted to recommend a movie, but I can't remember what it was called. Pretty sure it came out after 2000 at some point, and was kind of like a spy/thriller movie. All I really remember is the guy waking up in a white room with flies buzzing around him and going to visit his psychologist who's offi...

Re: Games to play

Just finished Final Fantasy VII again, that game is awesome. Storyline so compelling. I'm thinking of replaying both Zelda games on N64. I'm going to finally get with the times on systems/games once I get into the military, all that free time will need to go to something!

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.

I've actually thought about posting new information on the classes guild board, regarding how to play different aspects, what to prac and so on. Of course, without giving away any flat information, so they still have to experiment. (Think Vaina's cleric guide, but more up to date).

Re: PowTTY and Laptop

From the powwow help file, it says only the number pad (excluding numlock) pageup/down, f1-12, tab and the arrow keys are bindable. So I'm not sure about the special character keys on your keyboard.

Re: mmapper2 arda.mm2 (linux x86_64)

It can be a bit tricky sometimes, especially if there is a typo change in a room description (if you play with them on) or even at times a room name, not to mention random exit changes due to legend homes inside cities.

(Anyone else remember when Bree and Rivendell were not this huge?)

Re: mmapper2 arda.mm2 (linux x86_64)

There is a few other versions, I believe the map me and Lessar created is the most specific and non buggy one, its pretty easy to just delete the room and remap it, shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
