Re: What would you change?

I agree on both points... Perhaps "custom" quests could still be made, but it would really flush out the interaction, epsecially for newbies, to have quite a few kill X, or retrieve X quests. I'd like to see it useful as a way to gain xp at lower/mid levels, similar to how WOW has treated quests. Ma...

Re: OB, def and damage

Thanks! Aah, I have always been confused on the damage thing - what does the base damage mean then really? How does it get to be more than that amount? Is fine chain actually better than metals vs. crushing like ornate warhammer or war mattock? Thoughts then on DB vs. OB focus for pk as a warrior? S...

OB, def and damage

I've of late been frustrated with the over-powered seemingness of 2-3 orcs with warswords wandering arda killing people in a few hits. They must know something I don't... Say i have def of 130. And they have an OB of (generously) 150. Warsword does 18 damage, so 1 'extreme' hit from them will do 18 ...

Write a short story that explains it :) And submit it as a quest! More quests, more quests!

Re: Demystifying wilderness

I usually get it to 60-80%, though around 100% on people that I expect will be running around without mounts often (dwarves, trolls/ect), or that don't have bob. Some people say it helps with movecost while tracking, though that may just be because they can't be mounted. More questions: How much of ...

Re: MUME Time Reset

What I was really talking about is the public support from having a publicized "vision" for the future. People being excited about what you're working on helps motivate and excite you to work on it. It feels like nothing big is in the works, and I feel that makes people apathetic about the sameness....

Wiseman: You are joking, but seriously builders/etc are most likely happier when there is actually fun/exciting/new things in the work. Stagnation == lack of inspiration.

Re: What would you change?

At least it would be a one-time "framework" effort, which would add up to much more than it when used to make thousands of quests. Are there more people who know/care to write in C that can be promoted? Is C-code access always a dangerous thing, or hopefully there can still be security/logs/restrict...

I really liked the LOTR game that went with return of the king (didn't play the others). http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Return-King-Pc/dp/B0000C0Z0O/ref=pd_sim_vg_6 Anyone played the The Lord Of The Rings: Shadows Of Angmar LOTR MMO game? http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Shadows-Angmar-Pc/dp/B000G...

Re: Mume & Social Friendship

1) Elevenrunes needs to be made "official" and at least hosted as a subdomain of mume.org. runes.mume.org? Accounts should be automatically parsed from the mume system (perhaps a bounce-login system could work by adding a file to the main mume server, which simply returns an authorized username, in ...

Re: What would you change?

It seems like it would be pretty easy to automate some of the quest difficulties. Then you just add a keyword to the zone and attaach it to a person. Like a textfile format: mob_id : trigger text regex : Said response : action in muddle script or something. : pre-test in muddle examples: hunter_1331...

Re: Any future ahead? I guess not.

I disagree with Timodeus. If the implentors aren't going to be active, they should pass along at least some of the duties and power to someone who is. Mume needs development besides just the (very occasional) new zone launch. It needs someone with authority and power to weigh in to answer frustrated...

Re: Playing MUME w/o auxiliary software

You can do most things just fine with the built in aliases. Some triggers are handy for xping, but depends on what you're looking for, or automatically dismounting when your leader dismounts, etc. You'll want to alias ko to kill orc, things like that. The biggest thing is a mapper - basically you ju...

Mume & Social Friendship

Mume's the best game ever made in many ways. And in some ways, it sucks. I'd like to focus on the process of becoming friends with a player on mume. 1) Other games (like wow) have a 'friend list' feature, that notifies you when your friends are online. This would rock! 2) Mume's multiple-players all...

Re: How Multi-Classing Works

It'd sure be handy if we could see our various class-levels though. I wasn't playing when they were shown/hidden again. But trying to make a combo, or as a lowbie and wondering why the *#&#& my stupid blinds don't ever take, even on mobs 5 levels lower than me, it would be neat :)

Re: MUME Time Reset

We should have some fun, and try and stage a great war, and have the one ring be findable by those who look for it, etc. maybe have the "battle" of middle earth reset every 2 weeks or something. could be a really fun aspect/scenario to the race wars. Perhaps have angdil give out basic armour and a w...

Re: Unretiring after 2 years and need help!!! Please!!

When I unretired a few months ago, dropping link worked fine to cancel out of the reroll process. There should be a cancel and help options in there too, that would sure make it easier! Usually I use the page mentioned above, type in my base stats, and us the web form to find stats that I can do a l...

futures can take awhile

I have been surprised by the lack of comment by admins on many posts in this "official" forum. It's clear to me that people are still not very happy with the thief class. Others have taken it upon themselves to "prove" that they are still playable... of course they are, even zorcs are playable when ...

Why does train improve not practice %s?

I realize this is as it was designed, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like a huge bug. The design of train improve was a brilliant idea to replace rerolls. Brilliant! Especially better than waiting a full year RL to tweak a legends stats, which is just crazy. The fact that Mume can ...

Powwow, saving narrates/tells/etc to a file, and beeping

I've been doing lots of scripting... I'll try posting a few things here and see if people find them interesting. Then maybe I'll post more :) I don't think it's pasting the ASCII control characters properly. Grab the diamond/inviisble char from here and put it before any "["s http://nschimme.googlep...
