You ought to be able to post \027, which is sometimes better when pasting text anyway.

Re: What would you change?

You mean out-of-game communication should be made even more powerful?
I think it has been proven well beyond reasonable doubt that such a change would be quite horrible.

Re: Powwow Questions

A fixed width font is a must to be able to view ASCII art, such as whoises and in-game maps, properly. It is also important to anyone who want lists and tables (in help files, for instance), to be intelligible.

Re: What would you change?

The new zone TP bonus is not something one usually notices while tping.
See, for instance, this thread that is dedicated to a TP discussion.

Re: MUME Ansible

This thread ruined Ender's game for me, thanks a bunch-possibly ruined the whole series too ;) The series was ruined by the author's hippie-bunny-hugging ending. There was a female sci-fi author whose name I cannot recall who used the idea of FTL-ships with multi-dimensional interiors encased in th...

Re: Unable to Logon (Bug?)

I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 8.04.1 just a few weeks ago and I'm having no trouble whatsoever logging on using plain telnet, nor with powwow.
Do you have any firewall or proxy settings that might be interfering, or perhaps an unreliable router somewhere along the way?

Binary Storing Data in Itself

This is technically a question about C rather than a client-specific question... If I want to write a programme that stores some data in its own binary rather than an external file, how do I go about it? Here is an example of a programme, my mume-time offline reference: #include <stdio.h> #include <...

Re: Question about experience

I am fairly certain that trophy increase is a function of xp gained. Also remember that it is possible to gain >100% of a mob's total xp value by solo-xping and doing significant damage on an incap mob.

Re: stats or percentage?

as far as I know the shield spell has no direct relation to any stat. I apologise for talking about a specific spell, but at least it is about the mechanics of that spell... The shield spell efficiency is, in fact, reliant on strength and dexterity, and also dodging skill, since it yields a lower d...

Re: stats or percentage?

No one at all would disagree, I think, but that is not the point: Focus on mechanics, not on spells itself. To be quite honest, I think Elestir is wrong. I vaguely recall a statement that the class-fractional-level information was removed from the info command just because it had no direct practical...

9. Players can become wanted for attacking other players even if the attacked player survives and never complains (for instance, an agreed upon non-lethal duel or fencing match with practice weapons, or hitting a groupmate slept by magic or poison to wake him up, or testing the efficiency of a spell...

Re: Powwow Action triggering on Twiddlers

But that won't trigger on a spinning twiddler on an unfinished line...

Perhaps I should ask a more general question: Is it at all possible to get an action to trigger on a line not finished by a CR/LF?

Powwow Action triggering on Twiddlers

Does anyone know of a good way (a regexp pattern, for instance?) to capture a twiddler-prompt while performing a delayed command? Actual output: search -You begin to search... \|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|You don't find anything hidden here... *#> Escape code substituted: search -^HYou begin to search....

Re: Safe client actions

I don't think anyone who has ever answered "yes" to the question "Are you an experienced MUME player" should be reimbursed for failing to programme his client properly. As long as people get reimbursed, the vast majority just won't bother about fixing their settings. Inexperienced players should, of...

Re: Travel Points

To my experience, it is considerably easier to gain TPs as a whitie than as an Orc, not unlikely to a great extent because there are several dozen zones west of the Brandywine and south of Fangorn that are very hard to TP in as an Orc, aswell as a couple of dozen zones patrolled by rangers that are ...
