Re: MMapper 2.0.4 Beta Released
Elestir, to to checkout mmapper's SVN trunk, you need to run:
I guess the tree you had was based on Jahara's personal branch.
Code: Select all
$ svn co https://mmapper.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/mmapper/trunk/mmapper

Re: MMapper 2.0.4 Beta Released
It's in SVN, I checked it out a few days ago. Jahara used to do development in his own, private branch, but now all the recent changes are in trunk instead. Maybe you checked out a wrong branch?Elestir wrote:Why is it not available through svn update?

Re: MMapper 2.0.4 Beta Released
For that purpose, you could use xml logs though, which are kinda hard to create atm. :-) Maybe MMapper2 should have feature to create logs and movie files too both with/without xml mode. Sounds like a good idea. Elestir, can you write MMapper's log saver and post patch somewhere? I think there are ...

Re: I can't stick with one character / gear advice
Mobiles tend to target those body parts that are less protected. Because of that, it makes sense to always have a full set of similar items. If you lack one piece of armour or if it is much worse than other items, most hits will go to less protect part, making other pieces of your armour rather usel...

Announcement: powwow 1.2.14
Steve Slaven just released powwow 1.2.14: http://hoopajoo.net/projects/powwow.html The new release adds new commands "#option list" and "#addstatic", fixes #capture with UTF8 and has several other fixes with multibyte output locales. As usual there are also various bugfixes all over the code. Full d...

Re: Spear user stats
I'd say that the question of how much str to get boils down to how eq and age dependent you want to be. Lets face it, almost all of the good offensive weapons need 18 str to wield, so that's the number you need to get. There are a few different way to get that str, though. First option would be to g...

Re: Help with MMapper2
Post some more information, please.
1) What's your Windows version?
2) What MUD client do you use?
3) What is the exact error message you are getting?
4) If you connect to localhost from your client, do you get anything in MMapper's Log View?

Did I get it right that you really made 3 different characters so you could pick the one with best perception?

Re: Powwow 1.2.13b
Without actually downloading the archive, my guess is that it would be a snapshot of Dain's powwow development tree (read NEWS 2323 for more info). As far as I know Steve Slaven (current powwow maintainer) pulled from Dain's git tree, but never got around to actually making a new release. His git tr...

Veritasmos: people who want to build are always welcome to join. New gods usually start with either proofreading or taking a testzone, which means describing about 25 grid rooms and a few secrets. If you do well in there, you'll probably be considered as a candidate to build a full zone. Everything ...

Mats:
You are doing everything right. Now you just have to run the binary in bin/debug/ directory.
I guess you could manually copy bin/debug/mmapper2 to /usr/local/bin, so you can easily start it without having to type the whole path every time.

Good start! Thanks for doing this.
I think you should upload your guide to mume.org/wiki, so that all those people who gave their suggestions here can improve and add more details to the guide themselves. A community effort sometimes leads to good results

Wobbler: Chark didn't mean that he is now going to switch to a variable width font, he just said the he wanted to try some alternatives to misc-fixed font ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed_(typeface) ). If you pay attention to the font names he mentioned, then all of those are fixed width fonts. ...

Re: Safe client actions
Could someone please explain how to do it safely in JMC? Last night the idiot decided to hit again, trying to abuse actions. There were several JMC users who were suffering from this, most notably Elaril who even posted a log on ElvenRunes. Having only used powwow, I have no clue about JMC scripting...
Re: Safespots
Some of the weaker 'safespots', for example the demons' cave in Eregion, add quite a lot to game play. Especially if there aren't enough players on in your side, sometimes those places are really the only way to fight stronger opponent(s). Reducing the number of those places would also reduce the nu...
