Re: Mage / Cleric spells & hybrids
In general (imho!): I'd max the spells you really want to work (best): Your attackspells, blind, armour, shield, sanc, your main cure-spell, bob, store... You also want to max ride and nearly max wilderness (if that pays depends on your stats). You put some pracs in support spells "until they work"....

[...] It's also be nice if there was a personal quality to TPs - I hate exploring a new area for the first time and not getting anything out of it. [...] In fact, there is something like that: [...] There is also another way to gain TPs: MUME grants a consistent TP bonus for the first few times you...

Hiring a Builder
I'm hiring a new builder for one of my areas (which probably has a rather high profile) in the Dol-Guldur-Area. Experienced builders are preferred. Who can apply: - You are an experienced builder (Mw) or a new builder (Mc) with a good testzone (if you aren't sure, just apply). - You have enough time...

Games to play
Mass Effect is a really nice game and is worth your time and money. But please note it IS overhyped. The main-story is "short", so short that I nearly feel offended (I basically shoot myself through some 12 large locations and that is it), "side-quests" basically do not exist, you just have a bunch ...

Wormholes, if they exist, have other issues. You must survive the approach and the passage. Some people have the theory you could find a wormhole in the center of some black holes. Let's assume that is correct. Let's assume the said wormhole leads to another place (if the other place is also in a bl...

Re: Next zones for Building
Type map g in MUME, you'll see a bunch of ? leading east through Mirkwood. That's the old forest road which will eventually (someday) pass through Mirkwood (where we go from there remains to be seen, probably north towards lonely mountain in a bunch of years). Then we connect the Anduin, that's the ...

Oh, I pretty much liked I Am Legend... well, apart from the last five, ten minutes, they sucked. SPOILER-ALERT (in case you still want to watch it) But the message of that movie... urks... "There were too many humans on the world, so god could not be heard anymore. Thus, god killed most of them (ove...

That's not the point. If some ret^H^H^Hpeople stop triggering on communication-actions they may start to trigger your coin-loot-actions, your auto-group-actions, your ride-actions, your ZBLAM-action, maybe even your (illegal!) auto-track-action... the only way to prevent abuse like that is to use sa...

Re: MUME Ansible
The problem here is that the "faster than light" transmission of information does not work. It just does not work and all experiments that claimed to "have done it!" were cheats (well, at least when they started to give their results to some magazines that are meant for the open public). Maybe the t...

Re: Wart & Monster reimbursment thread
because he's an implementor (kind of like Bush he gets a veto) :-) Because he can scrap your work with pushing a few buttons if he does not like it - thus it is a smart thing (from your point of view) to ask first. You do not *have to* get Manwes approval for big things... but you really, really *s...

Re: Feedback on Ideas
I also think that general feedback is next to worthless if noone is going to do about it. If you post Idead #1 and get "Nice to have" and Idea B "nope, bad idea, because..." but noone does something about it (no time, no coder, no...) what would be the benefit?

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page
I just point the shading out since the idea of the map was that players should be able to roughly know where they are. If there is a mismatch between "map" and "realitiy" this aim cannot be reached.

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page
I took a while to mark the areas that are currently existing or are in development. Our map should *roughly* correspond with what we have. (And yes, I know I suck at something like this ;)). My lines do not correspond to 100% with MUME but I guess it is close enough. It just should not be off by som...

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page
Nice area-map! Great work, two issues (that can be fixed easily, I guess):
a) Some of the texts are hard to read,
b) the lightened area does not reflect our zones (e.g. the NE in Mirkwood is totally wrong).
Apart from that, it is very nice and with some final polishing it will be even better.

Re: Safespots
A positive thought about "safespots"... have you ever considered them "honeypots"? Be thankful for safespots instead of complaining about. Since with "safespots", you know where your enemy will run. He is wounded, he thinks he cannot make it, thus he runs to a place where he think he is not safe, bu...
