Boards are up again! Whee!

I always chose the worst possible times to disappear on some RL adventure it seems. The mysql database was corrupt, so I picked up a database from a backup and fixed it a bit, as far as I can tell everything should be operational.

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

There are several ways to look at balancing, but this usually works prety well: Is some object used by everyone? (e.g. fgc) Is some skill learned by everyone (e.g. bash) or no one (e.g. kick) in a class Is some "class" over-represented or under-represented compared to what we think is right? Is some...

Re: Mending and Reboots/Crashes

Note that any item of any value that you try to mend is logged, so it's pretty easy to reimburse you should this happen.

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

The problem with a full test-mume as the one we were running is that people quickly start testing many other things than what we want tested. So we either have to create a limited world that is completely different to the "normal" MUME (we did that once, but it takes quite some effort, and it is out...

Re: Link cap

Implementing link cap, as in slowing down people with fast links, is not something we want to do. We would really like to give everyone the best possible links though. The original servers were written for one reason only: Decrease the traffic going to/from epfl.ch (when MUME was still running there...

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page

I don't want to make too many "it needs to look like this or that" statements. I belive in letting this be up to you, whoever you are, who want to contribute to the page. The design should not be set in stone, if we later think of a way to improve it, we should. As for maps: I think the maps on Rik'...

Re: Testmume feedback on scout changes revision 2

Generally i think that we should not nerf things, we shoud improve things. Image if everytime some class had a great advantage over the others we would improve the other classes in some way, instead of rendering the superior class to completelly useless? Might be a good way to go. If we improve eac...

Testmume feedback on scout changes revision 2

A thread for feedback on the changes on testmume. Please test it before coming with iput & opinions. All these changes are relative to the real MUME, not to the previous test version. ESCAPE Escape is now twice as fast. Escaping from a single opponent is a tad harder. Escaping from multiple opponent...

Re: Test-mume feedback on scout changes

Closing this thread now, testmume will be up soon with the next revision. I have tried to integrate some of the constructive feedback from this thread, as well as from discussions with the rest of management. Stay tuned.

Oops - some topics autodeleted

This forum was accidentally set up to autodelete any topics no one had posted in for a week. Cancelled that, but we lost some very interesting topics I think, including the mume.org redesign thread!

Having cheated a couple of years ago doesn't stop you from immorting. We have some people with account notes saying they should never be allowed to immort, you are not one of them.

Re: A Link to "Forum"

Just to clarify: If you go to http://mume.org and look at the menu on the left hand side, we'd like to have a graphic that says "Forum" as well. I have no idea what font is used to make those text strings, the people who made it are not easily accessible right now. There has to be two picutes, one i...

Easily done of course, but I don't want to make too many anti-spam countermeasures before it becomes a problem.

MUME accounts integrated!

The forum now uses the MUME player database for authorization. This means that you need to log in with a mume character and the corresponding account pass phrase to post here. You can post with as many of your characters as you want, they are independent in the forum.

Yeah forum isn't in sync with the rest of the world yet, I'll figure it out so you can use your mume characters & passwords everywhere.

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.

I suggest you put what you have on the wiki, others can edit it as they see fit, and if there is a disagreement you can battle it out in the talk page. Or talk about the pros and cons of different stats and strategies.

Re: Wiki pages are up

There are several sites with a lot of interesting info. I don't want to just dump a site into the mume wiki though, unless the site owner wants that to happen (or ideally does it himeself!)

Wiki pages are up

The wiki is now up on http://mume.org/wiki . It is totally unconfigured, but I manged to get MUME account integration in place at least. This is proving to be a bit of hassle in phpbb3, but we'll get there in the end. If you want to edit anything on the wiki, you need to log in with a MUME player na...
