These forums are no longer linked to by mume.org

As per the subject line: this forum (mume.org/forum) doesn't appear to be linked to by the main mume homepage (mume.org). There use to be a link on the sidebar, labeled "Forum", or something like that. Now there is apparently no link at all. What's up with that? (Actually the link was always a bit b...

Re: Any oldtimers still here?

Well, I think there are many balance problems in mume which make it hard for new players to get a foothold, but the particular problem I had in mind was about the rate of XP gain. XP gain for killing particular mobs is reduced depending on how much xp you've already gained from that kind of mob. I t...

Re: Any oldtimers still here?

I'm not around any more. I'm just stopping by to see if the game is still being updated.
(I'm not likely to play again unless someone changes the trophy / xp system. [Or gives me C access so that I can do it myself.])

Re: Help with MMapper2

Getting a fresh svn checkout didn't directly solve the problem... but it did lead to the solution. :) The problem was that I had only checked out the mmapper/src directory. (Way back when I was editing mmapper in the past, that was all that I needed). Anyway, when I checked out the full mmapper dire...

Re: Help with MMapper2

It looks like that particular problem is fixed — so cmake gets a bit further, but now there is another problem: CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:160 (QT4_WRAP_CPP): Unknown CMake command "QT4_WRAP_CPP". It sounds like I need some kind of special QT module for cmake or something. I don't know. (by the w...

Re: Help with MMapper2

I've just downloaded the latest code from svn, but I'm having trouble compiling it. Basically, I just open a command prompt in the mmapper2/src directory and type: cmake -G "MinGW Makefiles" it checks a few things and says they are working, then it says this: CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:76 (QT_QUE...

Re: Legend rerolls after 6 months

In my opinion, it should be both: Change train so that it affect base stats, like a reroll, and shorten reroll wait time to 6 months. In my opinion, the current implementation of train improve is broken. How it affects your character is simply bizarre - it changes the effect of stats for some purpos...

Re: Scout changes - ideas

I don't see how it would be "hugely worse than flee". What I had in mind when I wrote that was basically "flee with direction". ie. If you tried to escape, it would be the same as flee except that you could choose which direction you would flee to. Clearly that would not be worse than flee... By the...

Re: Scout changes - ideas

Here's a rough idea for how escape could be changed, based on what few people have said already: - "escape" can be turned on/off kind of like sneak. - while escape is turned on, attempting to move while fighting would cause your character to start trying to escape in the given direction. - the escap...

Re: Mume & Social Friendship

I like it that people don't know which characters are my characters. I find that it helps with character separation. (This is a role playing game. Players are not characters, etc.) I tend to talk to different people when I use different characters. But anyway, I can see why you would want it to be d...

Re: The term 'Darkie'

Your response sounds about right. To be honest, I've never in my life heard "darkie" used in a racially derogative manner. In the context of MUME I think it is quite clear that "darkie" refers to nothing other than a character on the 'evil' side of the war and I'm content to continue using the term ...

Re: Why does train improve not practice %s?

But on the other hand, there are a stack of characters around which were created before this train business was introduced (for example, most of my characters). Furthermore, I'd guess that many characters created after this feature was implemented still were not designed to take advantage of it - be...

Re: Old age and Age reset

Age resets should be available with much shorter retirement for lowbies. It seems stupid to me that it is faster to mob your character into deletion, make a new one with the same stats, and level it up to where it was before just to get an age reset than it is to wait for it in retirement.

Re: [HowTo] Install mmapper2 on Windows (Mapper Guide)

Anyone know how to get the view noride rooms to show on Mmapper2? The rooms are flagged but it's not displaying the darker shade on the map. Heh, that would be my fault... A while back I changed it so that no-ride rooms no longer had the darkened textures, they only had the little red cross. It cer...

ciúin, if it wasn't organised then the whities were not working together with the darkies. They did not cooperate (they did not "work together"). What's your problem? Why are you attacking Vortenos? Wobbler, good list. Well said. I lost my faith in MUME town justice some years ago... There was some ...

Re: [HowTo] Advanced Character Statistics

To follow up on what Radhruin said, I'd like to point out that I think that the current stats training system is rubbish. It was introduced as an alternative to a reroll, so that people wouldn't have to retire/recreate characters that they wanted to improve, but because it was poorly implemented it ...
