Re: Games to play

So, anyone has some nice recomendation? Classics (well, not that classic, 2002 and above) or new ones are welcome. Just finished Knights of the Old Republic 2 again. ;) Genre etc don't really matter, what game is good? Apart from that, anyone played Empire at War? Usually I'm not so into RTS, but si...

Re: Movies to watch

I'm not actually certain Warp-Fields and Custom Made Wormholes will be the solution to go. Wormholes have one problem: Matter must come through unharmed. I think a lot might be possible... but over-c would be a really, really big surprise. Currently, this seems to be one of the few truths that seem ...

Re: Movies to watch

Stop hijacking this thread. ;) I think Clarke's words are very wise and good and really like that particular quote. But I'd still say there's a difference. Magic does things that are physically impossible (therefore belonging to the realm of fiction), technology does stuff that is possible (that's s...

Re: Movies to watch

Well, some things in Star Wars seem *highly* unlikely. Maybe some effects are possible but Star Wars in general? Notgonnahappen. Even if technology of some level can be considered to be basically magic (he, look at a lot of stuff we have today... that's already like magic) it still stays a fact it i...

Re: Movies to watch

Physically possible? Probably not. But neither is Star Wars. ;)

Forget about "Sunshine". Rocking setting, great potential, very good first half (or so)... but utterly ruined by the script around 70% or the runtime. UTTERLY ruined, just believe me. ;)

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.

I'd recommend a somewhat sturdy starting character (a warrior of some sort). Mages are more fragile, cannot do a lot (namely: do damage or cast spells) on lower levels. I also recommend reading all those nice helpfiles... no need to read them all at once, but reading HELP NEWBIE and those mentioned ...

Re: Survey: World problems

There's something in my mind... currently, I'm really not sure if I already asked about it or not... hmm... to put it this way: If I get "someone" to agree to it, who (people with an immortal) would do the "work" (and write/proofread custom pop messages)? I won't start anything in that direction whe...

Re: Age System

So, you'd like to see a FoY-like mechanic for players (whities? or darkies as well?) up to level... 15? or 21? (21 seems a bit high, a hero is strong enough to be actual help when someone helps them foying).

Re: Survey: World problems

I agree something *could* be done about repops and resulting mobrips - but on the other hand you could say mobdeaths are unbalanced these days anyway since the "balance" comes from a time when MUME had much less different mobs and your trophy was much more cluttered. Therefore, mobribs already becam...

Re: How do we groom new leaders of MUME?

It's the lack of executive decisions and direction that is killing us. Not true. Getting executive "descisions" isn't the issue. Getting a coder with high-level-access to actually put it in is. So, if you just need a descision and actually have a Vm who'll code your thingie (they can do quite somet...

Yes and useful. I'm not fairly sure on the details anymore, are the ones that are there outdated?

http://uk.pc.ign.com/objects/142/14236144.html The average press rating is 8.4, imo a bit too low... and the average reader rating is 9.7 which is a bit too high but surely the right direction. ;) This summary hits the nail on the head, I guess: http://www.the-nextlevel.com/review/pc/the-witcher-enh...

Re: Games to play

If you did not play The Witcher when it came out, get it now that the Extended Edition is out.

It is a really cool RPG with funny fights and A LOT of cool quests and a dark world!

Re: How do we groom new leaders of MUME?

A large part of this text was written before the forum broke down. ;) ---- It is funny how things go. I have written quite a few similar posts over the last years. Believe me, I can understand the reasons for that and on of the core-reasons is that MUME is a very nice project that should life on. I ...

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.

By the way... if someone has a good idea for a new helpfile or additions or changes to our newbie-helpfiles, feel free to send me stuff.

I think something like a short overview over the classes and if they are suggested for new players or so could be useful.

Re: Hello everyone. New player, sorta

A good start to get into the game (again) is some sort warrior. Str and con, the rest is mostly up to you. You can play with the stats you listed there, if you find it entertaining (getting missile to shoot-flee stuff sounds like a good idea) keep it. Using stab to xp nicely on mobs still works, you...

Re: [HowTo] Install mmapper2 on Windows (Mapper Guide)

Can't compile it (linux). I get an error on running qmake like
svn: "." ist keine Arbeitskopie... I'd translate that to "is not a work-copy" or... so.
