Re: Any future ahead? I guess not.

You're praying, but no one is listening. Just out of curiosity I did a quick study using the statistics presented by the forums. While we will never know how much time the V+ spend online in MUME, then the statistics about the forums are openly available to anyone who bothers to look at them. So I d...

Re: How Multi-Classing Works

This discussion here has mainly been about warriors, clerics and mages, so here's just a small note to the less experienced (newer) readers: I think (and I believe many will agree) that the class that loses most from being "multi-class" is scout. Having your fireball spell or bash skill go from 105%...

I don't think that the "class level" has ever been visible? :?

Re: Je suis Nouveau sur MUME et francais ...

Hello yaneich! France is certainly one of those places from where MUME could have a lot more players than it has right now. However, I don't think you're the only one around right now. I've see a few *.fr "logged in" time to time. So keep an eye out for those lines indicating location and you might ...

Re: Movies to watch

Well, sorry, but when the very large majority of the posts you make in forums about real life things have "fun" as the main and central qualifier of whether it's worth the time or not, then that's the reactions you're going to get time to time. Hancock... I'm not entirely sure about that, the traile...

Re: The term 'Darkie'

I read that post on the Idea board as well. I was surprised. I've never heard or seen anyone use it as a racist remark either. I suspect the player in question simply confused something. Besides, "puke" is far more insulting than "darkie"! Especially when used by whities when talking about other whi...

Re: Any future ahead? I guess not.

Khemsa, I've been playing since 2001 or so and I don't recall a situation when MUME was overrun by scouts. Must be amnesia or something, right? And my point still stands - none of the classes are particularly fitting for the Tolkien environment, but unfortunate that's all we got and we have to live ...

Re: Movies to watch

... I did not say the characters where flat. The characters were well-planned and crafted. But that does not change the fact the movie is boring as hell. ;) Well, in that case I suggest you to stick to Hollywood comedies, thrillers and actions movies. You know, the basic mainstream blockbusters and...

Re: Any future ahead? I guess not.

Well, unfortunate Manwe has not stayed true to that statement he made about 4 years ago as the last 4 years have been exactly the time of little to no development. Still, your statement, Khemsa, doesn't make sense. I don't see what's especially untolkien about thiefs. Fireballing hobbits sounds more...

Re: Quick Start Quide to Level 1 Fornost

My experience with bandage is very different from what you're claiming here. Anything below 25% is pointless, 26-30% works just barely and not really with more difficult wounds, but 31+% is basically all one will ever need. Sure, you'll fail a few of your bandage attempts, but 99% of time that won't...

Re: Movies to watch

I totally disagree. You must have seen a different film. "There will be blood" is an excellent film, the characters are all very well developed through the film and none of them can be called "flat". The story is also very intriguing, even more as one sees how all the characters end up. It's certain...

Re: Quick Start Quide to Level 1 Fornost

Hmm... As far as I know ranger-guild practising is not level-limited? You could as well put all your starting (10-13) practice points into wilderness if you wanted. That's why I'd definitely get about 4 pracs of bandage and some 6 of ride right in the beginning. A riding lvl1 warrior will not even g...

Re: Quick Start Quide to Level 1 Fornost

The training part of your guide is slightly wrong. It's essential to get at least three prac points in these skills ASAP: bandage, ride, swim and climb. Prefebly a lot more than 3 when it comes to ride, swim and climb. Practising warrior skills should come only after that. Oh and - 1-2 pracs into pi...

Re: Why does train improve not practice %s?

I agree with Elestir. While Science does have a point - this change makes choosing statistics very complicated, probably only a tiny fragment of the whole playerbase properly comprehends how the system works now - then Elestir's point is even more significant: this CANNOT be changed without giving p...

Hello, I might be a bit too late to respond, but here's a basic ABC of your situation: As usual, looking at the help usually.... well, helps! :) Although, it only covers the technical side of the process. However, if you don't know what you want to reroll yourself into, you're in far more serious tr...

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.

One more thing, I reviewed the Guides available on the scout board today. That board badly needs to be updated. Right now it has two guides posted, one from 1996, one from 1999. The 1996 one (post 1015) is so horribly outdated that it should be removed from the board ASAP, only thing it's good for i...
