Re: Question about mobdeath penalty (not complaint)

I suggest that you make some alias for "open exit", oe or oo or something short and easy to remember. It will work for all non-hidden doors, with a direction added at the end it will also work with more than one non-hidden door in the room. For hidden doors you have to spell the name out, so when yo...

Re: How to prac Thief-Mage?

Most of the humans around Rohan are aggressive to darkies, with some that aren't aggressive to BNs. The rohir encampment is generally safer than Bree, due to the extreme rareness of large forces of darkies in the area. Trees in Fangorn are aggressive to orcs and trolls, but not BNs. However BNs can ...

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

These are just my observations done as a mortal, I have very limited knowledge from being an Ainu. Changes are made by people (Ainurs) that are able (high enough position) to do so and think they have something good to contribute to the game. Some listen more to mortals than others, with the ones po...

Re: How to prac Thief-Mage?

I have no experience with thief-mages, but I have some experience with thieves and with combos in general. While exping a combo of any sort it is a good idea to not prac it as a combo but rather more as one of the pure classes, if not you will most likely end up with a character that is poor at a lo...

Re: New Quests (or quests for new players)

I didn't mean that the quests should be made simpler/easier to complete, which I really don't think they should since most are very simple once you have played for some time and/or done the quest before. If anything I'd prefer to see some quests be made a little harder to complete. What I meant was ...

Re: New Quests (or quests for new players)

Generally the newer areas (Lorien, Rohan, Fangorn) have more quests than the older areas, however there are some available in the areas between the Blue Mountains and Bree. Quests can be initiated by someone entering the room of a specific mobile, or by asking the mobile about certain keywords (gene...

Re: Safespots

When playing darkie I very much prefer if some whitie runs to the Forsaken Inn instead of running inside Bree (not very far between so quite rare that someone enters due to lack of moves). Inside the inn it is possible to kill someone while inside Bree it is much less so.

Re: Travel Points

If anything new players should have an easier time with the new system due to the fact that you don't have to know any secret doors or secluded "hidden" areas to get TPs, you can get just as much from running around south east of Bree as from traveling through the Old Forest for example.

Re: Travel Points

IMO it is easier to get tps with the new system compared to the old system if you are only running around exping/PKing. However if you are running around trying to get as much tps as possible the new system makes that harder. Mostly I'd say that the new system is different, and you need to adjust yo...

If the TestBot resets the effects of training or not says nothing about how it would be if you did a normal reroll after being retired, which I am fairly certain will reset the effects from training stats.

ElvenRunes is hosted in Germany, made (mostly) by a german and an american with (small) help from various people more or less all over the world. So I wouldn't really call it "a USA site". Regarding the topic of the thread I agree with Rogon, the results of a general slowdown of the game would most ...

Re: A Rules Question Regarding Prompt Information Extraction

Thardum with that reasoning action- follow/track would be fine as long as you bind the direction you want to go to a key first. So before you go and do that I'll tell you that it isn't allowed to do that. As for Wobbler's question I have no idea. The information you send is a little vague (most of t...

Re: Lowb question about warrior character skills

For most warrior skills it is more or less a waste of pracs to max them, with the exception of rescue and possibly bash. Some 90-95% in weapon skills and parry and around 40 pracs in endurance is where you should stop, unless you feel you got some spare pracs or need to increase your general warrior...

Re: [News] Age modifiers

I very much like that it makes warriors (and scout too though that doesn't make me as happy :) ) playable all the time now without age being so limiting (if you are too old just make a trip to the FoY). Hopefully that will cause warriors to be the dominant class among players, something I think is r...

Amanrandil: I like Snarp's idea, if Thrakghash's apprentices can cast some spells why shouldn't Amanrandil's acolytes? Regarding Amanrandil himself casting block I'm not so sure that is a good idea, magic blast would be cooler and much less abusable. Chief of Tharbad: Having the warlock summon the s...

Re: Let's put together a newbie guide.

Yes, the premade stats available to choose between for newbies when creating a new character are mostly quite decent (at least those I have seen). However there will always be newbies that doesn't want to choose premade stats (I didn't and I have never done it in any game where there is a choice tha...

I'm posting it here first to get some comments on how clear/good/bad my choices and descriptions are. The ranges are based on...

Re: [Project] Supermobs

In my opinion the three best supermobs in the game are Eblees, Unqalome and Balrog. In all cases killing the mob involves more than just walking to it and hitting/nuking it dead, it involves a non-trivial area you need to travel through, it generally requires the group to know the area/mob or a care...
