Re: Safe client actions

Everyone should be responsible for his actions. And yes I mean literally both manually executed ones and automatic ones executed by their client scripts. If you can't write client actions that are not abuseable, better don't write them at all. On the other hand, an attempt to abuse client actions of...

Re: Q: How to get inside Rivendell?

The question I actually have related to Lorien is: can half-elves get in on their own as well? yes They can get in, but they cannot lead others in (where elves can). AFAIK both elves and half-elves can lead others in. Just other races who are citizens can't lead non-citizen non-elves or non-half-el...

Re: Powwow Questions

You can achieve this by using external tool named "tee". E.g.:

Code: Select all

powwow | tee -a -i session.log

Re: Warriors and spells

Playing an elf warrior as a bobber is actually not that bad idea. It's one of the way to utilize the elven manaregen. And bob is handy for elf, because moveregen is not really where elves excel.

Re: Prioritizing bugs

The bug with no delays for followers has huge impact on PK. Even following mobs "abuse" it probably.

Re: Negative Effects of Cross-Class Practicing

Warrior / \ Scout Cleric \ / Mage This picture is bit misleading. Following table gives better idea about the "distances", but it is only a rough approximation. For whities: Warrior Thief Cleric Mage Warrior 1 1/2 1/3 1/4 Thief 1/2 1 1/4 1/3 Cleric 1/3 1/4 1 1/2 Mage 1/4 1/3 1/2 1 For darkies: Warr...

Re: Ingame mechanics of following

I thought the delay for the leader happened before you were moved into the next room, not once you were in it. If so this whole argument is flawed. I'll see if I can find a bunch of mounts or something and verify though ;) I am pretty sure that I am right and the delay comes *after* the movement. A...

Ingame mechanics of following

Current behavior of movement in MUME: You are moved to nearby room and if the movement didn't happen indoors you also suffer a small delay (0.25 sec). (exception is fleeing, which doesn't seem to have this post-delay) Current behavior of follow in MUME: When leader moves he suffers the post-delay, ...

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

Unless you track there is no chance what so ever of finding a scout, and not all characters can track fast enough to avoid a backstab. Well, you shouldn't need to track in every room - it's only the first room that takes a while to pick up tracks. Following them is too quick to get stabbed. Also if...

Re: PANIC! A rethink...

How about giving players option to decide when they want panic and when not. For that, panic would also have to bring some bonuses of course, not just penalties. E.g.: fleeing without panic (through flee command) = current flee but 10% slower fleeing with panic (through change wimpy) = current flee ...

Re: Scout changes - ideas

Even as man ... with all EQ i know of to improve MVs & MV regen, 117% wilderness, only holding 40lbs of equipment, bree to RD will deplete all my moves if i go mountless. bah! Without rather high STR and travelling lore it is adequate that all your moves got depleted. If it was possible to spam fro...

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

Contrary to popular belief, whining doesn't motivate us. In fact, it does quite the opposite. Being demotivated by whining is not better than being motivated by it, as it makes you susceptible to manipulation. E.g. let's say there is a feature I like and wouldn't like it to get changed. I could sta...

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

They can easily solve the problem of scouts not being able to effectively fight in closed area fights by improving shoot (re-allowing wimpy mood for shooters for example, but that's not the only possibility). As for sneakers being more easilly spammed down in bottlenecks, that's a good thing imo.

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

Alve, there is one obvious advantage in not revealing the goal. If no1 knows what goal your actions followed, no1 can also say if you succeeded or failed. More than that you can always update your goal to what the actual effect is, showing everyone how "successful" you are. :-) Although to be fair, ...

Re: Collar and Fur Absorption

Collars have no effect on absorb for body or head. Although I could be wrong but I dont know how you would test it or find out without having a ainur. The only collars in the game have a max hp abs of 1 point and while its % is around 90 i believe I think that the .9 hp would be very difficult to n...

Re: Keep at bay

And regarding the keep-at-bay vs bash... Keep-at-bay only works when the spear user is not in any kind of delay. If he is bashing himself, he won't keep you at bay on your attempt to bash it. Neither will he keep you at bay if he is revealing for sneakers, etc... (correct me if I am wrong) So it is ...

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have won if you kept fleeing around, because your foe would simply stop attacking you and leave. :-)

Re: Link cap

I see your point, but Rogon is right as well. All in all it would hurt MUME not help it. I see alternative solution in changing the part of mechanics of MUME that is heavily link dependent into a less link dependent mechanics. One such change was change to flee years ago. Basically if there is anyth...
