Re: What would you change?
Rogon, I suggested something similar (on ER) some 5 years ago when the first characters after Norsu started reaching level100 and I was flamed for suggesting something important to very few players while it'd take far too much time to code it. :P But yes, the idea itself definitely has potential. I'...

Re: What would you change?
I agree with Ulixes, if you reduce gains after lvl25 you will have the problem of people losing motivation to play because "there's nothing much to gain anyway". I mean, look at the lvl100 characters as examples. Only a few (Woland, Stolb) have played their characters after reaching lvl100, others h...
Re: Fans
The statistical probability, of course, always exists. It's just not that great.
Re: Fans
I doubt you're the only person online, so they have plenty to choose from!Wobbler wrote:... but likely only to have it reappear a few moments later.
Re: Fans
Wobbler, I know lots of people who like fans, they're fans of fans! So that last feature doesn't necessarily look bad to some people.
Besides, if you don't like them, you can quite easily get rid of one.

Re: Fans
So you mean some V+ decided to deliberately spam me with fans every other tick? Now that would be abuse of immortal power if I ever heard of it... Well, it might also be that people who had fans rented and then the fan is coded to "search for a new idol", thus you were their favourite! But yes, fan...

Re: Warriors and spells
Parrafin, if "armour-management" is supposedly the key to playing a caster (as a famous bn once wrote), then move-management is possibly the key to playing a warrior who walks solo (or simply without a following/leading bobber). So probably you'll just have to practise it some more. ;) Besides, I ca...

Re: Warriors and spells
I agree with that, Rogon, and I'm aware of the dangers of poisons. However, I still think that warriors should rather get antidote, than remp.
Re: Fans
To be honest, I quite like them. They add humour to the game.
Besides, afaik they don't just "appear", it takes a V+ to load them specifically for a charX.

Re: Warriors and spells
Battle axe vs eng bs - I approximated that it's about that much, it's not entirely trivial, but is it worth a pile of pracs in slashing? Second weapon skill again. Two things - (1.) is it really necessary to have a second weapon skill as a cleaver or is just a luxury? (2.) I still don't see why clea...

Re: Warriors and spells
In a rather random order, unfortunately: First, I'm fully aware of the climb-swim-ride thing. I haven't "pracced" any warrior lately so I didn't exactly recall how many would be needed for 80-90% in it, so I guessed it's around 8 or so. Secondly, while it's justified in swim and climb, then imo 70-7...

Re: Warriors and spells
Caerroil, everything you wrote I already know. Most of my chars (fortunately or unfortunately :P ) are warriors. Wobbler, then they're called combos, not warriors. ;) But now, back to the subject. We have a lvl26 dwarven warrior. That's 253 pracs, right? Lets prac him: Bash - 43 Cleaving - 29 Endu -...

Re: Warriors and spells
Maxing any warrior skill, endurance included, is a horrible idea; Hmmm.... so.... we have a legend whitie warrior with ~250 available pracs. What would you prac then, if you don't even max your warrior skills? Warriors don't have many things to prac after all. You'd prac 3 different weapon skills o...

Re: Travel Points
Depends on how you exp? Shouldn't be a problem really if you move around a lot... (at least it isn't in my experience)
Of course, if you re-do the same area a lot you will have troubles with tps.

Re: What would you change?
Civril, I believe the "direction descriptions" serve the purpose you're trying to give "exits". If a person sees a room-name in "exits" which doesn't look very nice and doesn't bother to read the direction description, then we can just conclude that he wasn't careful.

Re: What would you change?
Normally indeed not. But the environment itself should not so much reflect what people might do or might not do, but rather what the environment is supposed to be like. If the player is careful he won't run into a dt anyhow. A roaring waterfall is a pretty likely to be a dt after all and I'm sure th...

Re: What would you change?
The problem with many old dts is that they're quite pointless, or even silly. Those old instant dts definitely should be removed. And the werewolf one is one of them. However, in some instances the place simply has to be an instant dt. For example the Rivendell waterfall. Or if we think about potent...

Re: Deep mines of the Blue Mountains
Yeah, these days the main loading-stop of war mattocks seem to be the shops of Arda! ;) As much as I've played in 2008, there always seems to be at least one war mattock sold in some shop of the whitie side. :P Then again, more seriously, I think it's kind of expected. Most of the legend eq is has s...
