Re: Why does train improve not practice %s?

While presenting this change as something to replace limited rerolls was completely misleading, the current train feature has its advantages as well. E.g. it extends the possibilities to customize the character, bringing more variety into the game. Generally it also makes many character setups more ...

Re: How do parry and dodge work?

Only someone with access to C code could answer this accurately. Others can only guess. I've always believed it was actually 2 separate rolls, first your DB + random factor is rolled (DB values are probably actually percents here) with levels (mostly your) likely affecting this as well, then your sp...

Re: Age System

Mostly for whities, darkies are supposed to be experienced players and the foy is not so far from their home. Quick and simple solution could be lower retirement time requirement for age-reset for non-legends (it is 1 rl year for everyone now). Regarding other solutions, some copy of the foy in the ...

Re: Survey: World problems

It is indeed 2 different ideas, the first one means basically 2-3 messages for each zone: Message that appears shortly before the repop happens to everyone in the zone (except for sleeping ppl etc.). Message that is visible for the time interval shortly before repop in room description. Message that...

Re: Age System

Maybe it could be a solution if every successful spell casted would increase the age of a caster somewhat. The higher level spells more than the lower level ones. Only negative effect I can see on this rather simple and elegant solution would be that the birthday message would become kind of mislead...

One could argue that giving coders this high-level access is also a kind of executive decision. :-)

Re: PowTTY and Laptop

From the powwow help file, it says only the number pad (excluding numlock) pageup/down, f1-12, tab and the arrow keys are bindable. So I'm not sure about the special character keys on your keyboard. I don't know what powwow help file says, but I know that powwow can bind any key that sends an escap...

Re: PowTTY xpcounter help?

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. You meant when I call it via the xpprint alias that will SHOW it I need to use the lesser value, rather than what I am setting it at first. Well, that should function right (I'll test in the morning!) now I just got to implement Jahara's hourly rate calc! Thanks. :) I...

Re: PowTTY xpcounter help?

...but I can't get it to show level! ... Anyone know what I am doing wrong? In your code, you call alias xpprint on 2 places like this: xpprint $1 $2 $3 $4 $6 $7 $8 xpprint $1 $2 $3 $4 0 $7 $8 As you can see, each time, you call it with 7 arguments. In the body of the xpprint alias you try to use 8...

Re: What would you change?

1. Bash: From my point of view bash is bugged! You bash someone and fled before you can bash it ... This smells! Bashed should be bashed for the whole duration, no flee, no wimpy flee nor anything!!! As long as there is rather flawed melee system which allows tons of attacks being performed on you ...

Re: stats or percentage?

Wobbler, why don't you compare 101% backstab of pure thief and 101% backstab of a thief-mage if you are so sure?
That itself proves the existence of "thief level". And if there is "thief level" there is also "mage level" and "cleric level". Don't you think?

Re: Question about experience

In my experience the experience from killing a mob is pretty much just distributed among the killers according to their levels, with lower levels gaining less exp than higher level characters. Besides that I haven't been able to discern any real pattern. I really remember noticeable difference whil...

Re: stats or percentage?

One can only guess. It was visible for a while when the new prac system was introduced, but later it was made invisible. Hence the % info in prac can be misleading.

Re: Question about experience

I am not sure about the details, but I've also noticed something like this. I think that the barrier is around level 15. If you are lower than that and group with ppl that are 15+, you are penalized on xp gains.

Re: stats or percentage?

The spell will be more efficient in case 2. The percentage in shield spell is multiplied with your effective mage level which depends on your class pureness (which is higher in case 2).

Re: Scout changes

I will maybe repeat myself, but I also agree the changes to sneak did more bad than good. I've recently thought about the problems of scouts: 1. in order to fight, scout needs to be nearly as sneaky and as quick as he was before the change 2. when fleeing, sneak gives scout perhaps unbalanced advant...

Re: Powwow Action triggering on Twiddlers

As far as I know that is not possible in powwow as the actions are applied on whole lines, not partial ones. Why would you need something like that anyway? The action I've given simply transforms this: /-\|/Foo bar. (with the special codes in the twiddlers) to this: Foo bar. so that actions catching...

Re: Safe client actions

Since some clients don't have the features of powwow which help with this issue, you often have to improvise. In most clients, following approach to deal with dangerous actions is possible: Simply define action of higher priority (usually the action defined earlier) which filters out the dangerous l...

Re: Safe client actions

It is my belief that all actions in PK situations are illegal and this one that I totally back. Even such non direct actions such as 'allowing to communicate faster', provide an unfair advantage, if that communication allows for better group coordination. Reply action/aliases still give smaller adv...
