Re: What would you protect?
I'm not sure if "even more and more powerful eq" is what the game needs... but one can surely think about allowing items to be upgraded.

Re: What would you change?
I'd vote for stronger enforcing a frame that fits tolkiens name, especially with names. You do not HAVE to RP or try to get into Tolkiens world when playing the game, but you should also not keep people from doing so who want to do it. It is like the old debate about "smokers vs non-smokers" ("Have ...

Re: What would you protect?
To be honest... I'd keep at least a large part of the "harsh" punishment for death. It is one thing that makes MUME different from other (especially modern) games. The "punishment" should be capped, like you do not loose ALL age on a mobrip (only 30 or 50% of it), it could become a bit easier to get...

Re: Issues with management
It seems to be a bit unfair to rant like this about the "structure". As it seems to me, Ilie tried to give as many people access as possible, thus, "builders" are moderators. This is in fact a strong contrast to the system of MUME, where not everyone gets the access to do administration and moderati...

You'll probably find some reference about him in the Silmarillion...
Well, little known. There's some freedom for you, no?

Want to write a short story?
If you want to write a story (and do not have an immortal to read this post on the ainur board )that could be used in a quest (and a library), here is your chance: It is about "Arthad the Mariner, beloved of the Sindar and the Noldor" (yes, that's all we know so far about him), it is an old elven st...

Re: Roleplaying within MUME - Remember to roleplay?
As far as I know some of the old instant DTs have been removed lately (I know at least in the GH area some two or three or so that have vanished; no clue about other DTs, I did not actually test them when I found the room's connection was still alive (as the most western one on Redhorn) ).

Re: HOWTO: Local Editing in Windows (Coloured Whois)
As a sidenote: Last week (or so) we added a new helpfile about the local editor. I'll just paste it to this thread since it fits somehow... ![ iMs 2[0:2]>help local ed "LOCAL EDITOR" "MUME REMOTE EDITING PROTOCOL" The MUME remote editing protocol is a mechanism that allows users to edit files on the...

Re: Charmie bugs
I'm not sure what this forum is intended for but I think stuff like that should still get reported on the internal bug-report board.
Othervise we spam this forum down with "stuff" that does not belong here.

Mapper: see post for nominated mappers
[Linux] Pandora
[Windows] Pandora
[???] Mmapper2
I do not use a mapper
Anyone uses cheeslab? I do not nominate it, but someone asked me to add it to the helpfile a while ago, so... anyone knows about CheeseLab?
While we are at it:
Add "Plain Telnet" to client.

Also, make all doors pickable and blockable even if they are 'bushes'? :) a) How do you want to pick a "bush"? ;) b) As general guideline for you to tell when an exit should or should not be block-, bash-, or breakable (to tell BUG from FEATURE before you post ;): - Exits you cannot block are not s...

Re: More sub Forums
I guess we'll wait a bit more how the forums here get used - nothing is more sad than empty forums. So, use the forum and more sub-forums will follow. That does not mean we cannot start to collect here what we think could be useful.

More sub Forums
What sub-forums would make sense? Would a sub-forum for game-questions (as newbie's questions or so make sense)? I'd also think one for "minor changes" is a nice thing. Currently, some smaller changes do happen from time to time but they are not important enough for a NEWS, so usually noone gets tol...
