And your char will take up smoking or otherwise increase their aging rate?

Re: Age System
I think doing something like doubling aging time while retired would help a lot. I re-joined mume after 10 years, FOY'd to a perfect 5th age, got talking into doing moria with people, then mobdied on like my 4th day playing again. That char is basically still not very playable 3 months later, so I'v...

Re: How do parry and dodge work?
Good question! I'm not super sure.
I do know that my def warrior can get over 100% pb, and still get hit, so it's clearly an opposed roll. Pehraps there are two rolls, but each opposed separately. Hopefully someone who knows more can chime in..

Re: Metals + Armour spell
So if I'm a metal-wearing caster, don't bother with the armour/shield spells? Especially in pvp, where the warriors you'll be facing will hit you anyways. Maybe use armour vs. casters since metals don't absorb spells?

Re: Metals + Armour spell
Thanks... a) So since the targeting system works so strongly (at least in pk) it doesn't make sense to just wear a metal breastplate, but maybe only fine chain in other areas? b) If you have fine chain+armour spell and it shows 90% armour, is that the same 90% armour as someone who is wearing just m...

Metals + Armour spell
For the wierdo combo casters which wear metal armor - is still still much point in using the armour spell?
Or would it just be for vs. spells at that point?
Thanks!

Re: How do we groom new leaders of MUME?
This suggestion would definitely add a lot of transparency to the system. Which is good, but dangerous. In a stable system (as mume is) making frequent big changes would be a very bad thing. So it would amke sense that the implementors don't visit as often / etc. Mume is in a pretty polished state r...

Re: Ore/Smelting
Unfortunately, since you've devoted your life to soldiering, you don't have enough skill to smelt the ore Better let the shopkeeper do it for you!
Good question though!

Re: Permission to visit with 15 responsible college students
I actually think this is a fascinating thing for a class to study. Virtual worlds are an interesting world, and the comparison of mume and world of warcraft can say a lot about how the human imagination works. As well as the nature of addiction :) I'm run some online communities, and love looking at...

Re: Recent changes, any future ahead?
The issue unfortunately in this case seems that everyone playing a thief feels like a major thing got taken away from a mostly-balanced system, with nothing to offset it. It'd be nice to know at least what some of the ideas and ETAs were, to make it worth it for them to hold on. Things seem very war...

Re: Next zones for Building
As a returning user from about 9 years ago, I just wanted to put in that I've been loving the lorien/tbad/moria/mirkwood areas tons. It adds an awesome adventuring aspect to the game to have so much territory to explore. I can't wait until isengard and rohan are finished :) I see the horses of the r...

Re: Mage / Cleric spells & hybrids
I'm still somewhat confused about which spells to put just a few practices into, and which to max or nearly max. Granted, I could just dive in and try casting them, but I'm traveling right now so doing lots of pre-thinking rather than actual playing lately. Going for cleric+store+quake for now. Also...

Re: Mage / Cleric spells & hybrids
Thank you for your most excellent response! :) I had heard decaying was easier, I didn't realize that much! Store+earthquake was made less effective recently, right? It also rather relies upon soloing, since it damages everyone... Soloing realistically is always pretty common I guess. I'm still slig...

Mage / Cleric spells & hybrids
Hi, Returning after a long time away, and trying to wrap my head about this whole practicing in one class messes up your other classes thing. I have a level 29 that used to be a mage/cleric hybrid. Sounds like this isn't the best idea anymore? Which is more useful then? I don't tend to like soloing,...

Re: Question about mobdeath penalty (not complaint)
I'm another in favor of nerfing death a bit. Not completely, but the more the better in my mind, up to about 50%. I played most about 9 years ago, but quit when I mobdied several times in a row. I've stopped back from time to time, but never stick with it because I know I'm just going to get frustra...

Re: What would you change?
I'm going to reply focusing primarily on things that I think keep people AWAY from mume. 1) As many others have said, mobdeath is too strong. Yes, this adds to the fear+excitement, but it could be toned down a lot and still have this. Plus the "losing eq" possibility also adds quite a bit of fear. I...
