Terminology lesson needed. What is a 'puke'? And how did it get that name if anyone knows? This, and other shibboleths, could be added to the Wiki.

Darkies called whities this. Now people on both sides call whities this. An alternative name for whities is 'spya'. Same word but in swedish.

It could be from "Full metal jacket" where the drill instructor begins by calling them this. It could also come from other places, but that's my guess.
Drill Instructor: You are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human fucking beings. You are nothing more than unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit.

I was told some years ago that it started because darkies would narrate like this "4 whities abr *pukes*", and over time it evolved into what it is now. Of course I have no idea how credible that is.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the term 'whitepukes' is used in the LotR, with the same meaning. Perhaps when the Uruk Hai were running to Isengard.

OK, I am wrong. It's not in the book. Whiteskin, yes, whitepuke, no.

I also believe that the term originates from the Great Goblin in NOC.
He yells occasionally "And bring me some whitepukes" or something similar.

Shrug, I remember when it was only whities/darkies, then I remember when it was all whitepuke/darkie, now it's just "puke".

I still prefer whitie/darkie. :ugeek:

I don't think the great goblin has always yelled that, and the term "puke" was in rotation before he started.

I recall that whitepuke is used in LOTR by an orc referring to hobbits.
