[News] Age modifiers

To reduce the penalties of having little or no age, and to add some consistency in the aging system, the modifiers have been changed.

Old table:

Code: Select all

                Age: 18 24 32 40 50 65 90
Statistics:
                 STR -1 0 1 0 -1 -1 -2
                 INT 1 1 1 0 0 0 -1
                 WIS -1 0 0 1 1 2 2
                 DEX 1 1 0 0 -1 -2 -3
                 CON -1 0 1 1 0 -1 -2
                 WIL 2 2 1 1 0 0 0
                 PER 1 1 0 0 -1 -2 -3
Points:
                Mana -5 -3 0 3 7 15 30
                Hit 4 12 16 14 10 4 -6
                Move 0 5 10 5 0 -5 -10
Regeneration:
               +Mana 0 1 3 6 8 10 6
               +Hit 2 1 1 0 0 -1 -3
               +Move 1 3 3 0 -3 -6 -9
New table:

I like it. Warriors and thieves wants to be youngish rather than 35+. Excellent change.

Very impressing this wind of changes that has blown in all the sudden.
Hoping it will not rest anytime soon!

Second age hp rege = not logical.

Uh, you mean the new regen on second age isn't? The regen based on what Gothmog posted is what old third age used to be. I'd definitely say its logical since thats where wars are going to have the most hits now.

Saying something is not logical without giving a logic explanation why it is not logical, is... not logic...
Oh, wait...

He probably means that the younger a person is, the quicker he will recover from physical injury.

Looks like warrior heavy combos got a bit of a boost, but you would know better than I.

Warrior heavy combos are always short on mana. :-(
Prior to the change the best age for combos used to be a third+, fourth age.
The trick was to catch the age where you are still almost top as warrior (nice warrior stats and regens) and get very nice fouth age manaregen and max mana.
Now the distance btween good mana and good hps is quite ... distant. :-(
This might be quite devastating for most of my combo's i think. :-(

P.S. However i need to test it out. I'am trying to think of it, but what i really think of is my attempts to play my combos in OLD newbie age. :-)
Things must be somewhere in the middle without any chance to get the good old top state. Statwise the change might give combos some kind of a boost. Probably. Maybe. :-)

I very much like that it makes warriors (and scout too though that doesn't make me as happy :) ) playable all the time now without age being so limiting (if you are too old just make a trip to the FoY). Hopefully that will cause warriors to be the dominant class among players, something I think is reasonable.
For casters, and especially combos, the change seems to be negative. I'll have to play some to say if there is any significant effect on more pure casters but I agree with Azazello that combos might have been made a lot more annoying (more time has to be spent regening) with this.

Overall a good change that could cause a significant shift in what classes people play, which very well could be seen as good since it makes magic a little less common.

Does this age discussion explain why now I have str 19 when I was str 17 2 weeks ago?

I did read the first post originally. :P Thank you though. I looked back at it and it makes more sense now.
