Scout ring

Post by Mhoghedin »

The scout ring is a horrible item (jewelled ring with opal inside).

"You sense a presence to the north" when you use it. Any ideas as to how it may be un-nerfed and actually useful for scouts? As of right now...I can't think of words to describe how incredibly useless it is! Blinds on removal, and has no viable usage in pk when scouting works just as well if you are a sneaker.

Would it be overpowered to allow the wearer to scout without being seen?

(Actually, I'd love to have track, awareness, and wilderness all affect this ability, with there being a random chance for someone to notice the scout. Initially, it would be close to 100% of the time. With this ring, it could be maybe 25%, with those skills lowering the base to maybe 33% when they're all decently high. Eq and weight could also play in somehow, since I imagine it's much easier to scout quietly wearing soft leather and not carrying around metals in a sack than it is for some clanky dwarf.)

You guys realize the point of the ring is to be able to scout through doors, right?

It differs between two-legged and four-legged living things and spirits.
However, if one removes it it keeps blinding even if one puts it back on.

I posted an idea for how to improve scout rings in my jewelled rings idea thread.
