Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

You need not to be weapon troll for effective buffing. Few pracs in slash and eng bs (or dcs if lucky) + bej work even on unarmed troll. When I am talking about "unarmed" trolls I mean i am not spending more than 5-10 pracs in weapon skills. Well sure, for non-pk situations, but you're taking those...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

Here you are very wrong IMO. STR has huge impact on how well you doorbash and in PK situation, bashing a block might very well decide the outcome of a fight. Staffed puke block might be problem for an orc, but for high level troll? Rarely. Last time I saw staffed puke block was at hole necro, and I...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

Higher movecost (wilderness, encumbrance), slower bash (encumbrance), worse doorbash, worse flee (encumbrance), slightly worse ob, slightly worse damage, slightly worse defense (encumbrance). And since weapon trolls usually carry more eq than unarmed trolls, the encumbrance maluses (movecost, bash,...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

I never said ditch CON completely and go only for STR and WIL. Keep reasonably high CON, but don't max CON at the price of having very low WIL. I agree on mobility being big issue for trolls, but I repeat CON is not the only stat that affects it, not by far. STR directly affects it through penalty ...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

Elestir not trying to be insulting but have you extensively played troll or are you coming at this purely from a stats generator viewpoint? Your points are all valid but I have created a tracker troll with sacrificed con and it DOES matter. I had less moves/hps and I couldn't keep up with the other ...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

Ortansia is more correct although I would switch DEX and WIL in that line-up All of that though is useless for a new troll player. Max STR and CON are non-negotiables. Max them (25 and 22 respectively) Minimum INT, WIS, and PER are also non-negotiables (with 1 exception I'll get to at the end) that ...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide

I could probably write up a pretty extensive guide to trolls especially how to make and play a weapons troll sometime next week. Question though is, do new players want this, or is this something experienced players "think" might be useful to newer ones. Basically if I was going to spend the time to...

Re: [HowTo] Install mmapper2 on Windows (Mapper Guide)

Sorry Jahara that didn't work for me.

The old version did and it works fine. The only question I had with that is that the exit database isn't working for me when I'm xping. That is the _open exit doesn't do anything for secret exits. The game just says there isn't any "exit" there. Any suggestions?

Re: [HowTo] Install mmapper2 on Windows (Mapper Guide)

Hey Jahara I just installed mmapper 2 today and tried to use it together with PowTTY but I kept getting error messages. I opened mmapper and opened the arda.mm2 file then opened powtty and set the configuration to localhost and port 4242. I hit connect and PowTTY would get the MUME welcome message o...

Re: Testmume feedback on scout changes revision 2

escape is useless against puke casters even in a 4 exit room. i was playing zorc scout on testmume vs araniz and i typed escape east just after he began his spell. escape was simply not quick enough, not to mention that if you fail 1 escape you eat 2 sprays not 1 (yes he was colour spraying me so li...

Re: Link cap

how many peole quit this game because of the relative unfairness of link issues? I think if you added up how many people quit this game because their link was too slow to enjoy pk, over how many people would quit if their link went from 30-100ms, you would gain more people by making that change that...

Re: Link cap

true rogon but conversely why should people be rewarded because they live closer to an arbitary place where the server is held? i don't think a 80-100 ms delay is totally unreasonable. we have the new link command telling us what our ping is so lets say someone has a 20ms ping, just add 60-80 ms to ...

Re: Testmume feedback on scout changes revision 2

just a couple things i noticed roughly 1/10 chance of revealing a thoroughly hidden scout with reveal q with the time it takes to reveal quick, theres a 50% chance to reveal someone in 9 seconds It takes 14 seconds to hide thorough so for a sneaker with no mount (think zorcs), how are they supposed ...

Re: Test-mume feedback on scout changes

you shouldn't be able to never get backstabbed just by practicing awareness. I realize awarness is pretty useless but if thats the case then can we get a skill that makes you immune to dispel evil, or by maxing dodge be able to dodge your way out of earthquake debris? Spam revealing is tedious but c...
