According to powwow.doc, powwow comes ready to do this. "By default, the vt100 numeric keypad is partially used to walk around with: Key string sent 2 s 3 d 4 w 5 exits 6 e 7 look 8 n 9 u" I think you are a linux user? If so, you may need to change your keymap so that it sends the vt100 numpad keyco...

It's not hard to make your own "echoing say", if you use a client.
In powwow, for instance, it would be somthing like
#alias newsay={#print You say $0;say $0}

No such option, to my knowledge. MUME is working as designed there.
