Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page

To be honest: I deserved that grade for that "picture". I did not understand back then, but I do now. My skills stopped like in 8th (or even 5th) grade.

Apart from that OT: How does the re-design go?

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page

Do you want to know the grades I got in Art back in school? No, you do not want to know that, you already DO know it. I even managed to get 0 from 15 points once, something that should be impossible if you are "there" and "actually finish something". ;)

Funny guy. They should make a movie from this, with George Clooney in the leading role. ;)

Yes, I know. I said is about the "concept" and I also said I hated GIMP. Now you see why. :)

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page

Ok, just to make this sure: a) I have no talent, b) I *hate* GIMP (the coders did a great work, but, it is personal, I hate your GUI!). With this program, the stuff looks even worse than with just a). I just made this to show what I mean by "based on ricks maps". I increased the size by some 50%, an...

Re: Redesigning MUME.org web page

The one Freyja posted is along the lines of what I thought about when I proposed "drawn maps" on the er-thread. As long as it is not an exact representation of MUME's rooms (and secrets/indoors-stuff) it could even be more detailed. Again, if it contains something a traveller with a notepad would dr...

Re: Safespots

I think noone talks about "weak" safe spots, since if they are weak they, well, are no real safe-spots. As I see it, the real problem are the strong safe-spots (that are real safe-spots). As Ford of Isen, Lorien (arrows), to a certain degree entire Fangorn, Innkeepers being extremely strong (> level...

Yes, watch Orgazmo. It is a... hrmm... superhero-parody. Yes. That is it. From the makers of Southpark. ;)

Fallout 3

Is anyone else interested in "Fallout" and the latest game by Bethesda? I played F1 and 2 and liked them very much (the Old Black Isle Games!), but the more I read stuff about Fallout 3 from "generic fantasy Elder Scrolls maker" Bethesda, the more I fear the game will become some "generic postnuclea...

Books to read

I just read "Practical Demon-Keeping" by Christopher Moore.

The author is not brilliant but good. The book is enteraining and funny and I could recommend it to people who like Pratchett or so.

Re: Travel Points

It works "on average decently", in specific too random. You enter rooms you do not know and it is unlikely someone else has been there in the last time - but gain only very little TP. If you "graze" zones (like those nswe-plains) you get a lot of easy TP (which is no problem as long as you have a ch...

Re: New Quests (or quests for new players)

By the way (just for your interest) - we currently try to add a bunch of small quests to existing areas... but that turned out to be MUCH more work than expected (and the world we have is HUUUGE, so a new quest won't have such a big impact). I originally aimed for something like 50 (HA, what a stupi...

Hmm... that was not my impression. The only decrease in effciency was that after this stupid mobrip - you stab less good with a shortsword than with an enchanted fang. ;)

Re: New Quests (or quests for new players)

Which places are no_load or not finished? Afaik that's (well, stuff where it seems something should or could exist) the White Tower in GH, Purpledoor in Shire, Wall of Twilight/Archer in Lorien (I am not sure, but am very convinced by now that those things are not yet finished), and, hum, well... Is...

Re: After reading through a number of guides...

Check if you have a linebreak in the script that should not be there. Apart from that: For colouring in Powwow/powtty I found a combination of #action and #mark to be more simple. Thus, you first use a action that replaces whatever your want to replce (e.g. "leaves east" with LEAVES EAST) and then s...

Re: After reading through a number of guides...

@sarai
As you can see there are several opionions on what is "good" and "necessary". Do not get too confused. I just wait for Azazello who is going to say "Pracs are much more important than stats" and automatically assumes we are talking about level 60+ chars.

Re: Travel Points

Mobripped orc by trying to TP in Fangorn... I do not think orcs (tolkien) are supposed the big Arda-Raiders and Travellers. They sit in their mountains, raid the area from time to time and sit in their mountains.

Re: Some Sleeping Inconveniences

Maybe you can get a chance to "wake up" when loud stuff happens in your room?

People fighting, yelling, ...?

No idea if this is a smart thing, from a game-perspective (since sleep also serves as "ooc-silent-mode".
