Not sure how much awareness helps with avoiding being stabbed at all (I reveal all the time more or less) but it does help significantly when chasing sneaking scouts, until they manage to hide among some aggressive mobs then it's useless.

I very much agree that the penalties for dying should be kept quite high, it adds a lot to the excitement when playing. If any changes were to be made to balance the risks I'd very much prefer to add rewards like Thanik suggested and possibly alter how much age you lose from a mobdeath.

Training your stats changes your current stats, your base stats stay the same. Knowledge in skills/spells is only based on your base stats, and the distribution of pracs in skills for different classes. So training a stat will have no effect on a skill no matter when/how/where/... you prac.

For normal zones I can't come up with any negative effects from making some kind of message very shortly before the zone reset, if it could be customized for subzones (if there is anything like that) so much better. For more special zones like smob zones no warning would be just fine, not that many ...

I doubt that had any effect on any other item stats than their state and conditions. Corrupting an ADS that was flawless and aged could give you a defiled shield that was new and worn. Meaning that trolls could be lucky and get a flawless shield that fit them, since the defiled shields are nosized a...
