Re: PANIC! A rethink...
In my mind, a hero+ thief/warrior would never panic unless outnumbered or severely overpowered. It's silly if i flee from b.s. hostile mobs that i should become panicked, since i wasn't in much danger to begin with.

Re: Scout changes - ideas
Aha, good point, but I didn't mention that particular character also has 18 STR. spamming from bree to RD unmounted is a fairly bad idea anyway. i'm just using that as an example of how far a scout really can spam around when unmounted. an unmounted scout < almost anyone else mounted when it comes t...

Re: Movies to watch
you're right about the title, my mistake.
the plot meanders and seems pointless, which is why i think it's some sort of allegory. at points it is very slow... but i found the main character to be intriguing enough to carry me through the movie.

Re: Scout changes - ideas
One minor change that I think might help scouts a bit would be to change the stats (or respective stat-weightings) needed for the Wilderness skill. As is, the two premiere scout races...hobbits and elves...take rather significant hits to the stats needed (-1 to both for elves, -2 to the more influe...

Re: Movies to watch
Last night I saw "Let there be Blood" I don't know how to explain it without spoiling it, but it follows the life of an oil speculator at the turn of the century (not this one). it is not nearly as violent as the title might imply, if you're squeamish. i'm afraid it might be allegorical (ACK) and i ...
Music!
So one of my favorite metal bands, THE SWORD, is going to be touring with METALLICA, my not-so-favorite metal band. I thought that was pretty cool, especially since one of the members is from my home town. THE SWORD is a fucking sweet band, and they have a new album out which really kicks ass. You c...

Re: Movies to watch
If you're not squeamish, check out Dead Alive it's an old peter jackson zombie movie, and i've heard it has the world record for most fake blood ever used in a movie. it's fucking hilarious too. it bears no comparison to the lord of the rings trilogy, but it's absolutely one of peter jackson's best ...

Re: Scout changes - ideas
i've long assumed the "problem" with thieves has been their ability to sneak, hide, and in general avoid all unwanted confrontation. before the change i practiced a whole lot of attack, since it helps with flee & pierce, as i often use both. with the changes, maybe they'd be better off spent on esca...

Re: Books to read
I recently finished two Cyberpunk novels, SnowCrash by Neal Stephenson & Neuromancer by William Gibson. SnowCrash is funnier and has aged better. Neuromancer is much more serious, dated, and dense, but I thought it was more real in some regards, if you get past the dated sci-fi mumbo jumbo. It's eas...

Re: Movies to watch
I read "I am Legend" the other day. Great vampire book, good zombie movie. Glad that I read the book 2nd and had no preconceived notions about what the movie should be, cause I might have been sorely disappointed.

Perhaps there is some magnetic lay-line under your house that screws up compasses and computers. I'd watch out for falling airplanes.

Re: [Project] Supermobs
Raiding Rivendell and killing Elrond wasn't even possible for the Nazgul. He holds the mightiest of all the elven rings, etc etc. Basically he should be unkillable. Think about it, if you killed Elrond, would you be able to put a ring of power in your EQ? This is all nonsense about invading Rivendel...

Re: Areas of Future Expansion
With any imagination at all, any of the areas would end up being a fun place to travel and would do nothing but enhance gameplay. Mirkwood would be my personal choice, but I'd like to see the whole extent of the Anduin as a 'highway' between the northern and southern areas, from the Vale to Minas Ti...

Re: Movies to watch
I think 'I Am Legend' and 'Cloverfield' are two good action movies
I Am Legend has sucky CGI zombies, Cloverfield has some goofy acting, but both are some awesome movies
