Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
I will call it luck :). Seriously though from my experience and grouping with max STR unarmed trolls, a staffed puke block is ridiculously hard to bash down even after 7 minutes of it being blocked and the caster leaving the adjacent room. Did you know relative level of puke blocker? From what i've...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
I will add that based on my estimation, troll having 22 CON will moveregen regen like 3-4% faster than one with 21 CON, and like 7-8% faster than one with 20 CON. That is when not affected by age modifiers and eq modifiers. With fgc and first age moveregen modifier, the difference between 22 CON and...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
Encumbrance is also not an issue since the only real weighted items are ornate + shield and the rest are just trinkets. ... but you also get to increase dexterity so i dont know if the difference is that extreme. Even trinkets weigh a lot when you have many of them. What comes to mind in particular...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
A troll's max WIL will only go up to 15 so are you saying you'd be willing to drop con from 22-->21 so that your willpower can go from 14-->15? Indeed. Keep in mind this is a discussion about a newbie guide for trolls. As much true as this is, it is hopefully not the guide on how to suck as troll, ...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
Elestir not trying to be insulting but have you extensively played troll or are you coming at this purely from a stats generator viewpoint? I rarely talk about stuff I have no clue about. Your points are all valid but I have created a tracker troll with sacrificed con and it DOES matter. I had less...

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
Max STR and CON are non-negotiables. I agree on STR, but why do you need max CON? To have some 50 more hps and 5 more mps and by few % faster basic regen? When you have 600+ max hps, 50 more or less doesn't matter all that much. Hp regen won't save you in PK in 90% cases and there are draughts/vell...

Re: Teleport keys decaying
Teleporting is not the best way to test them. You could end up in a death trap, you know.
Scry is probably the only safe way.

Re: Request for troll (beginners') guide
Few points to consider when chosing stats for troll: STR will help you mostly with mobility (wilderness + encumbrance), door bashing and offensive bonus (unarmed, all weapon skills). DEX will help you mostly with defence, bashing speed, fleeing speed, max move points and little with offensive bonus...

Re: Linkdrop/ Novoid and Sundeath
I think the logic behind Fror's comment is that even if novoid prevents you to void while linkless, you still wont sundie, because you will have IDLE flag which will prevent you from sundying. I guess the information about IDLE flag protecting from sundeath should also be mentioned in HELP files.

Originally they were permanent, but at some point it got changed. My guess is they last 12 rl hours (MUME month).

Re: Scout changes - ideas
I think we will all agree that thieves need an improvement in skills that matter for the actual combat. On the other hand from my recent experience, there are still thieves who will simply sneak through your spam flush, which is simply wrong. So how about: improve missile (make it actually work well...

Re: Scout changes - ideas
I was merely comparing escape to flee. But you do agree that flee is overpowered when compared to escape? Ok, lets compare flee and escape. Flee is very powerful yes, mostly because it's fast and because it doesn't prevent other commands to be used while fleeing. On the other hand escape is powerfu...

Re: Scout changes - ideas
Here's a rough idea for how escape could be changed, based on what few people have said already: - "escape" can be turned on/off kind of like sneak. - while escape is turned on, attempting to move while fighting would cause your character to start trying to escape in the given direction. I fail to ...

Re: focus items
In general, dipping any of listed rings gives: sun pool ? +5 ob moon pool ? +5 db star pool ? -20 save spell Note: +5ob is meant to be while in aggressive mood. One exception is banded ring, which is considered to be 3ob 3db for the purpose of focusing no matter what its actual modifiers are. So dip...

Re: Do rerolls stack?
I believe training of stats uses your base stats and not your reroll reference stats as reference. I can't guarantee this though. Other than that, you should be aware that training modifies current stats, not base stats, unlike rerolling which modifies base stats, hence the effect of each is very di...

Rather than a mage level cap, there seems to be damage-cap for every offensive spell. Fireball seems to be capped at 110 damage for example.

Re: Negative Effects of Cross-Class Practicing
It should be only about number of practices spent in other guilds. After all "more difficult" skills usually need more practice sessions to spend on them to be learned well enough.
