Re: What would you change?

Or, in the case of a steep cliff or a waterfall:
"You have to climb to go there."
"Climbing down looks very difficult and falling would cause a great deal of damage."

Re: Time Sinks

Today, I wanted to see if I could make something of an old character of mine.
After two hours of not being allowed into Lórien to practice, I retired again.

Feedback on Ideas

Lack of V+ feedback on ideas posted by mortals have long been viewed as a problem by a large share of MUME's playerbase; these web boards offer a good remedy for that. This does not have to include getting involved in lengthy discussions, which obviously could take away a great deal of time from fix...

Last I checked it wasn't a war mattock, it was a steel-shafted mattock.

Re: I need help with Lindrop

As far as I understand, you are allowed to use linkdrop actions to remain online as long as you are not AFK. If you go AFK, you have to turn it off.
With the improved mume-side linkloss detection, it is probably better not to use the linkdrop feature at all.

Re: Travel Points

I remember reading about that bonus in the original news, but I cannot say I have actually seen it affect either of my new characters (one Elf, one Troll and one Orc).
Random seems to be more important than all other factors together.

Re: Prioritizing bugs

Regarding the rescue spam reduction ( viewtopic.php?f=18&t=512 ), I think the same should go for groupmates being bashed.

Re: Prioritizing bugs

These are the five I would prioritise, although I would give getting rid of the move penalty for track even higher priority than any bugfix: A track bug: http://mume.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=163 A rescue bug: http://mume.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=512 Level requirements bug: http://mume.or...

Re: Recent changes, a bright future ahead

Here's an idea for a brighter future for this forum:
Anyone who curses at another player or otherwise posts personal insults not related to the subject of the thread should be banned for a fortnight.

It's a scout with notracks, the second worst plague of mume (I think portals being able to transfer groups of 10+ is worse).

Re: Negative Effects of Cross-Class Practicing

The effects of a skill drop also depends on the class of the skill . A 5% decrease in a weapon skill gives -1 ob regardless of level, which equals the effect of losing 0.2 effective levels as a warrior and can be ignored. A 5% decrease in a spell at level 25 equals the effect of losing 1.25 effectiv...

Re: Ingame mechanics of following

Giving it some thought, I've decided I think it would be better to give followers delay too; however, it is important that this delay does not keep anyone too busy following to be able to stop following (compare to commands entered by a sneaker following someone that are never executed). Related del...

Re: Travel Points

Does North of Ingrove down ABR through OOC to south of Lorien through Moria and Dunland to Broghha, then back up via Tharbad and Bree to Old Fornost and then via Midgewater Marshes and through brush to Warrens sound like a small area for a non-legend Orc to be tping in?

At most 7 mobs can be engaged to a player at a time, or about one in every fifty mobs summoned.

Re: Travel Points

I'm not so sure, Orix - from what I can tell, the problem is rather the way one gets TPs these days (just following the road from Forlond to Bree is at least as profitable as visiting Moria, for instance) and applies to all races but Trolls (who require ridiculously few TPs), although Orcs are worse...

Re: Travel Points

Last night I, as a Snaga, entered a set of rooms below a very-hard-to-return-from climb exit behind a hidden door for the first time in the 10 years I've known it existed, and got 3 TPs. I also managed to gain a whole of 7 TPs swimming underwater below the whirlpool in Moria, having tped in 30-odd z...

Re: Trapped by a clump of roots...

The werewolf and roots north of Forlond pop three rooms apart, although the werewolf is closed in by default.

Edit: Or is that five rooms, with a termite in between?

Re: Trapped by a clump of roots...

You can also ask other players to come to your aid, or, if you are in the Old Forest, Tom Bombadil.
There is also a piece of equipment that can be used to break free of roots, but it might be hard to aquire.
