AZANULBIZAR, DIMRILL DALE, NANDUHIRION
The valley outside the Great Gates of
Khazad-dûm, lying between two arms of the Misty
Mountains. Azanulbizar contains the
Kheled-zâram
(Mirrormere) and the source of the
Silverlode. In TA 2799 the Battle of Azanulbizar, the
final and greatest battle of the War of Dwarves and
Orcs, was fought here.
Called Nanduhirion ("valley of the dark streams") in Sindarin, Azanulbizar translates as "valley of the dim rills" but is known to Men as Dimrill Dale.
