One gold coin = twenty silver pennies = two thousand copper pennies.

Elves have Elven names for these coins (mostly invented by the creators of MUME). You can (alternatively) use those if you are an Elf:

To drop, or give money, use <amount> <unit>, as in:

  > give 4 silver 2 copper bilbo
  > put 1g 2s moneybag

When referring to an unknown amount, use coins:

  > take coins

Your current amount money can be displayed through the following:

  > stat
  > info

Money is useful for buying things, and for storing your equipment while you are not playing. They can also be used to make random decisions:

  > flip coin
  You flip a coin in the air.
  The coin lands tails up.
