Yesterday I was speaking with the Commandant in his office, complaining about
the extra taxes he decided to put on alcoholics, when a messenger - one that
had just arrived from a long ride, judging from his dusted clothes - came in.
I was ushered out of the room immediately, without even an explanation, and
I had to wait half an hour before I was allowed to speak again. And when I
returned into the office, the Commandant had just locked something into his
desk, and he wouldn't reveal what it was about.
I think the Commandant has some skeleton in his locker, and that he is hiding
some important news from the honest citizens of Fornost. Otherwise, why so
much secrecy?
