EDITOR


When you want to write some text in MUME (for example a character description or a bug report or a message on a board), you may have to use the MUME line editor to do it.

For help on the edit board command for editing messages, see help board.

The : prompt in the editor means that the editor is ready to receive text. You can simply write the text lines here. Please keep lines 79 characters wide or less.

Text is appended after the current position, at the end by default.

You can also enter special commands. For example:

%q Cancels the message and exits the editor
%e Saves the message and exits the editor
%h Lists all available commands
%L Lists the lines of your message with line numbers
%d 2 Deletes line 2 of your message

Editor commands

The syntax for editor commands is:
  %<command letter> [<number>|b] [- [<number>|e]]

Upper case letters mean that lines numbers will be displayed.

The following commands are available:

Command Description
h help ([<command>])
e exit editor
q quit editor, cancel any changes
l list the text
d delete line(s)
g go to line
w where is the current line
f find (/<string>/<flags>)
s substitute (/<from>/<to>/<flags>)
j justify ([<columns>])
n new text; delete all text
