MUME Help

NOVOID, UNABLE TO VOID

MUME characters have linkless protection: if your link drops, you soon become invulnerable until you reconnect.

The mechanism that prevents abuse of linkless protection is called novoid. If you meet (or engage, scry, hear, etc.) an enemy, novoid is enabled for a period of time. The stat command will list you as unable to void.

While you have novoid, you can rent at an inn normally: it only affects your vulnerability while you are linkless. It does not determine whether you get a mob- or a PK-death should you die.

If you are already linkless, you cannot become novoid.

What is MUME?

MUME, Multi-Users in Middle-earth, is a multiplayer text-based online game based upon J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth during the epic wars of the late Third Age between the forces of the Dark Lord and the armies of the Free peoples. MUME is completely at no cost and has been continuously running, expanded, and remastered by a community of volunteers since 1991.
