TITLES

Heroes and legends on MUME can choose their own title. While they have great freedom in choosing it, some basic rules apply:

  • They must not provide false information about the character
  • They must not contain racism, sexism, or other abuse
  • They should apply to that character and not others
  • They should be in English or any of the languages used in Middle-earth
  • They are subject to veto by Maia Shapers or higher Ainur
Examples of forbidden titles:
  • Lob hates p(Gandalf) (refers to another character and is abusive)
  • Wiz the Elven Apprentice of Magic (a legend is not a level 1)
  • Panoramix the White (title reserved to the Tan Istar)
  • Joe the Orc (if Joe is actually not an Orc)

MUME, Multi-Users in Middle-earth, is a multiplayer text-based online game based upon J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth during the epic wars of the late Third Age between the forces of the Dark Lord and the armies of the Free peoples. MUME is completely at no cost and has been continuously running, expanded, and remastered by a community of volunteers since 1991.
