SPELLS

Technical information on each spell is given by help <spellname>:

Syntax : What to type to make the spell work properly.
Accumulative: If the spell is accumulative or not.
Duration : If the spell has a duration or not.
Position : In what positions you can cast the spell.
Example : An example that should work if you just cut/paste it.
[<victim>] means that an argument is optional.
<victim> means that an argument is required.

Offensive spells (generally) need an argument only if the caster is not engaged in combat.

Some spells are cast on yourself by default (when no argument is given). These are: armour, bless, create water, cure blindness, cure critic, cure disease, cure light, cure serious, detect evil, detect invisibility, detect magic, detect poison, heal, night vision, protection from evil, remove curse, remove poison, sanctuary, sense life, shield, shroud, strength, and word of recall.

You cannot cast a spell when you are of a level lower than the minimum to learn it from a guild master. Hence losing a level can result in the loss of certain spells, rather than a greater mana cost.

Note: If you want a list of all spells, type help spell list.

What is MUME?

MUME, Multi-Users in Middle-earth, is a multiplayer text-based online game based upon J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth during the epic wars of the late Third Age between the forces of the Dark Lord and the armies of the Free peoples. MUME is completely at no cost and has been continuously running, expanded, and remastered by a community of volunteers since 1991.
