MUME Help

CHAMPIONS, HEROES, LEGENDS, NOVICES

Upon achieving level 21, MUME characters are deemed heroic. They gain the option of choosing their own title (via change title). They may also gain certain abilities depending on their race and alignment. These abilities include creating a focus, becoming an Istar, and casting some "special" spells. All persons of hero level are also susceptible to Shadow of Death if they should perish.

Characters of level 26 and above are called legends. Advancement as a legend is significantly slower than as a non-legend.

Specifically: player levels 1-25 are worth 110% of a "real" (or "power") level, while levels 26-100 are worth 6.67% of such a level.

The higher level legends (level 30 or greater) that are of the races of the Free Peoples of Arda may buy a "house" known as a legend home which they can then create using the standard room creation commands. There are many special rules regarding this, and these may be obtained from the help files and from the responsible Ainur.

Characters of level 12 and below are known as novices. Characters between level 13 and 20 are called champions.

What is MUME?

MUME, Multi-Users in Middle-earth, is a multiplayer text-based online game based upon J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth during the epic wars of the late Third Age between the forces of the Dark Lord and the armies of the Free peoples. MUME is completely at no cost and has been continuously running, expanded, and remastered by a community of volunteers since 1991.
